Shreyas Iyer storms into ICC T20I top 10 after Lucknow century

• • Islamabad, Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Oct 7 (Sports & Opinion): India T20I captain Shreyas Iyer has made a major leap in the latest ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings, climbing 18 places to reach a career-best seventh position after his match-winning century against the West Indies in Lucknow.
Iyer smashed an unbeaten 102 off 43 balls, including 10 fours and six sixes, as India chased down the West Indies’ 172-run target with eight wickets in hand in the opening match of the five-game series.
The century was Iyer’s maiden T20I hundred and made him the biggest mover in the latest batting rankings. The 31-year-old right-hander entered the ICC T20I top 10 for the first time in his international career.
India now have four batters inside the T20I top 10. Ishan Kishan remains No. 1, followed by Abhishek Sharma at No. 2, while Iyer is seventh and Tilak Varma occupies 10th place.

In the ODI rankings, India captain Shubman Gill retained the top batting position after his unbeaten 223 against the West Indies in Guwahati, taking his rating to 841 points. West Indies captain Shai Hope moved to sixth, while India’s KL Rahul climbed seven places to share 10th position.
