Editorial Policy

Editorial Policy & Code of Ethics

The fundamental guidelines governing our reporting, sourcing, attribution, and editorial conduct.

1. Commitment to Accuracy

Accuracy is the cornerstone of Sports & Opinion. Every fact, quote, match result, and statistic published must be verified against official tournament scorecards, federation releases, or direct on-the-record sources. When breaking fast-moving news, we prioritize factual accuracy over speculative speed.

2. Sourcing & Attribution

  • We name sources whenever possible. Confidential sources are only used when the information is of clear public interest and verified by corroborating evidence.
  • When quoting or citing information originally reported by other news organizations, wire services (AFP, Reuters, APP), or sports portals, we explicitly credit and link to the original reporting.
  • Press releases and federation statements are clearly attributed to their respective originators.

3. Separation of News and Opinion

Our readers must always be able to distinguish between independent news reporting and opinion analysis. Opinion articles, columns, and analytical commentaries are explicitly categorized and presented with author bylines to reflect the writer’s individual perspective rather than a factual statement of the newsroom.

4. Commercial & Editorial Independence

Sports & Opinion maintains a strict wall between its editorial operations and commercial activities. Advertisers, corporate sponsors, and media partners have zero influence over our story selection, athlete critiques, or investigative reporting. All commercial content is transparently tagged as “ADVERTISEMENT” or “SPONSORED”.

5. Fair Play & Athlete Dignity

While critical assessment of sporting performance, tactics, and administration is essential, we do not engage in personal vilification, defamatory speculation, or invasive personal reporting. Athletes, coaches, and sports administrators are treated with professional dignity.
